Where are we?

Birmingham Christian College is located in Selly Oak, three miles from the city centre, right in the middle of the Selly Oak Campus of the University of Birmingham.  It is located near to one of the University libraries, the Orchard Learning Resource Centre (OLRC).

 

From outside the UK

By Air – Birmingham International Airport

Birmingham has direct flights from destinations in the USA, Canada, Europe and the UK. The journey by taxi from the airport to the College takes approximately half an hour.

Alternatively, a bus service from the airport to Birmingham International railway station connects with frequent rail services to New Street station in the City centre. Take a train, bus or taxi from New Street Station to the College.

By air – London Airports

From Heathrow airport take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington station and then the Underground or taxi to Euston. Alternatively, an Airbus runs from Heathrow Airport direct to Euston station.

From Gatwick Airport take the Airport Express train to Victoria station and then the Underground or taxi to Euston.

There are frequent direct services from Euston to Birmingham New Street. Alternatively, there are trains from London Stanstead direct to Birmingham. Finally, take a train, bus or taxi from New Street Station to College.

 

From Elsewhere in the UK

By Rail

All inter-city services to Birmingham arrive at New Street station, although some longer routes may also come in to Moor Street station.

By Coach

There are frequent express coach services to Birmingham from London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports and many UK cities. The long-distance coach station is in Digbeth in the City centre.

By Road

via M6: Leave at Junction 6 (signposted Birmingham Central) to join the A38 (M). At the end of the motorway keep to the right, go over a flyover, then through three underpasses to join the A38 Bristol Road, following signs to the University and Selly Oak.

via M42 (N): Leave at Junction 8 to join the M6 (Ν) and follow the instructions above.

via M5 (N): Leave at Junction 4 (signposted Birmingham SW) to join the A38 (S) and follow signs to Selly Oak.

via M40 (N): As the motorway ends, filter onto the M42 (W) and leave at Junction 2, heading north on the A441, followed by the A4040 following signs to Selly Oak, turning left onto the A38 Bristol Rd. (N).

 

From the City Centre

By Bus

Numbers 61 and 63 travel from New Street Station and X64 from Corporation Street & Moor Street Station in the city centre along the Bristol Road, and stop near to the Weoley Park Road turning. By local train

At least two trains an hour run from New Street station to the local Selly Oak railway station which is within walking distance of College.

By Taxi

If you are carrying heavy luggage, the best way to reach College is by taxi. There are taxi ranks at New Street station and throughout the City centre. The journey from the City centre takes about fifteen minutes.

By Car

From the City Centre, follow signs to Bromsgrove (A38). Go past the University (on your right 2½ miles from the City centre) following signs to Selly Oak. Go straight ahead at the junction with the A4040 near to the Battery Retail Park and Sainsbury’s. Turn right into Weoley Park Rd. at the top of the hill (BCC is signposted). Finally, turn left into Hamilton Drive. After 150m, you will see the college on the right hand side.

 

Locally from Selly Oak

BCC is a fifteen minute walk from the local Selly Oak railway station. Turn left out of the main entrance of the station and walk under the railway bridge. Continue past the parades of local shops, past Sainsbury’s on your right and continue up the hill. You will pass a modern church on your left before coming to the top of the hill where you turn right into Weoley Park Road (signposted for Birmingham Christian College). Turn left into Hamilton Drive. This service road no longer has its own sign, but is an entrance to a sub-campus of Birmingham University, with a sign to that effect at the entrance. It is located between the University of Birmingham School and the BMS World Mission College, the International Mission Centre. After 150m, you will see the college on the right hand side.
